Regent's Canal Lighting Scheme; Hampstead Road Bridge
Technical and Maintenance
Equipment used: 63 cold cathode lamps, mounted end to end in seven rows of nine lamps within custom linear stainless steel housings mounted flush into recesses in the bridge underdeck. Each unit has a dimmable DMX controller, all of which are connected back to a time-clock operated DMX replay unit programmed with very varied chase sequences which are replayed automatically each evening. As this is a listed bridge, the scheme is entirely fixed with clamps, and is fully reversible without permanent damage to the structure.
Approximate running costs: Assuming an electricity supply price of 10p per kilowatt hour then 30p per hour giving an annual running cost of £1320 based on an average burning time of 12 hours per day. Two year cleaning cycle.
